Our new logo and image is spreading like wildfire! Recently the US Mission Network went through a rebranding process, at the request of the YUSA. While we are a YMCA based ministry, and each of the leaders of our movement are YMCA employees, it was determined that our network is primarily more of an outside organization supporting the Y, like AYP, than an official YMCA program. After a very cordial and healthy discussion, we have been asked, and willingly complied, with a request to rebrand our efforts to avoid confusion.
Therefore, as you have probably noticed, we’ve been in the process of rebranding all our printed documents, our Facebook page, our newsletter, and other materials with our new logo design and our tag line, “Preserving, nurturing and advancing the Christian heritage and purpose of the YMCA across America”. We are also rebranding our new website, which will be launched within the month. Though we were a bit concerned about how this wholesale change from the familiar image of the Y logo and branding would affect our impact, such concerns seem to unwarranted. Perhaps that’s because our work wasn’t tied to the Y logo, but to a much larger purpose!
The US Mission Network is a growing movement across the USA connecting YMCA leaders, volunteers and board members in a common bond of commitment to the historical Christian roots of the YMCA. Our new branding is helping us gain an identity within the larger Y movement and recognition for
our primary goals and objectives. It is our hope that a Christian emphasis will continue to maintain a seat at the table as the future of YMCA is discussed in circles all over the country. By uniting together with others who stand with us in this desire we will increase our impact on the decisions that set the direction for the YUSA.
We will continue to develop printed materials and electronic tools with our new branding for you to use to support your Christian emphasis efforts. We will also be producing some video clips, graphics, and additional resources that we will share on our website. A branding suite featuring our new logo with our tag line, “Preserving, nurturing and advancing the Christian heritage and purpose of the YMCA across America”, is available now upon request and will shortly be available to all on our new website.
We may have a new look, but our purpose remains the same! I think the Y leaders of days gone by are standing in the grandstands of heaven cheering us on! It is our time to make a difference. Hebrews 12:1-2 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
