Brad Toft, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Toledo, announced earlier this month that Abimbola Fajobi has accepted the position to lead the association’s Christian Missions program.

Abimbola is replacing Joel Schutte, who recently left the position at Y to pursue a role in another local nonprofit.

Abimbola came to the Y and Storer Camps in 1983 to lead and develop programs in Outdoor Education, Summer Overnight Camp and Family Camp. Although the decision to leave Storer has been difficult, he felt called to broaden his ministry.

His passion is to lead and teach the “I am Third” motto that is at the foundation of everything that happens at Storer Camps—God first, others second, and I’m third. This philosophy demonstrates his own commitment to faith and service to others.
Besides ministering at camp, Abimbola has been a Religious Education Coordinator for the elementary school in which he taught in the United Kingdom. He was also a Christian Education Leader for the American Church in London, and a volunteer at a Church of England cathedral.

Folks in the Toledo Y look forward to Abimbola’s new role as the Y’s Director of Christian Mission. He brings faith-based expertise and broad ministry experience to serve and care for their community.

The Storer Camps staff will be honoring Abimbola at a luncheon for his many years of service. On July 6 there will be a celebration dinner during their Annual Family Camp.

Please join us in congratulating Abimbola as he begins this new role on March 27.
